I had a fire in my house last year in Jan or Feb. I just wanted to thank the PVFD for their kindness and professionalism that day.

A Fire Officer at the Ballpark helped me without me asking. His ne was Peter who had a Eurooean accent.
My front bumper had fallen & was hitting the groind
.
He said no problem I will fix for you.
After a few attempts, he told me to go to the game & he will fix. He said he loves a challenge. Bumper is more secure now than when I bought it. By the way, I'm crippled from a SCI. He didn't know that
Thank you Peter & to the Fire Police who admit such fine men to their ranks like PETER.
Thank you Peter.
I appreciate you.

I want to take this opportunity to thank the young men who entered our home on February 5th to respond to sparks and flame coming from my heating vent. They were courteous of the fact that they were entering my home during Covid, and reassured me that the fire was out. As a newer resident to Putnam Valley, I am confident that we are in great hands should a real emergency ever occur.
Thanks again

Thank you so much for the AMAZING response tonight from the wonderful PV fire dept. I was working with a different (for me) cut of meat tonight, thanks to the Corona virus, which unfortunately brought on the smoke. Despite all the crazy going on these days, these wonderful people left their own dinners to respond immediately. This is the definition of heroes and you are greatly appreciated!! So sorry and thank you!!

My father, John "Bill" Westerholm was an early member of the PVVFD, in the late 40's & early 50's. We had one of the town sirens atop of "Bills Tavern" at Oscawana Lake Road & Sunset Hill Road. As a late teen, I marched in your parades, work in the booths at your fairs and sold tickets for your raffles. I knew your first fire chief and many of your early charter members. I have fond memories of those times.

Thank you very much for arriving at our home on Park Dr the evening of March 11th due to a chimney fire. All the firemen were professional, kind, and thorough, and helped us feel secure that the fire was out with equipment and skills. We appreciate all of you and your act of prompt response to a situation that could have had been worse.
We greatly appreciate all of you. A donation is in the mail.

I was fortunate to know and work along side Mr. Marro for many years. He was kind, understanding and dedicated to helping many people. I am sure the PVVFD members will miss him. May he rest in peace.
After being stranded in our car for 10.5 hours on the Taconic State Parkway in a freak snowstorm on October 29, 2011, we were rescued by the kind and generous efforts of the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department, specifically Juan and his colleagues. As volunteers, we were incredulous that they came to help the State Police in a blinding snowstorm strictly as volunteers. Earlier that day another volunteer fireman with the Department, Fred, came with a shovel and assisted numerous vehicles, stranded in a long line, unable to get any traction on the Taconic.
We have never been exposed to the men and women from the Putnam Valley Volunteer Fire Department, and all the other selfless individuals who are the first responders when people cannot breath, drive their car over the edges, lose fingers, have crisis. Over the last few days we were the recipients of unimaginable kindness where volunteer firefighters opened up their space to us overnight so we could doze on their couches, sleep on the floors. They made us sandwiches and coffee and hot spring rolls. In the morning they made us scrambled eggs with bacon and breakfast sandwiches. They drove us around and went above and beyond (even in their role as volunteers) to help us get our car out of tow. Thank you, Barbara.
In everything, they were totally professional. They treated us with respect and kindness. We thank you, each and every one.
