On Tuesday March 18th, the PVVFD Officers and Members drilled on two very important skills, Search & Rescue and Ladders. There were two teams of interior members, and each had an opportunity to perform a search in a two-floor building in full gear, SCBA packs and tools in hand. Each team walked through the process of entering the building and searching for occupants on the main level and worked their way up the stairs to the second floor, searching various rooms. The newer members were also able to practice this skill, with the guidance of an officer, providing instructions along the way.

While the Search & Rescue training was taking place, exterior members practiced their ladder skills. This entails pulling ladders off the truck, understanding the correct location and proper setup of the various sized ladders, ensuring they are securely in place in the event a firefighter needs to exit the building from a second floor or higher. Each member was able to practice the skills along with their teammates, ensuring all had the opportunity in the training exercise.

Thank you to the drivers who brough over the apparatus, so packs, ladders and tools were available and to all who participated along with the officers to support this training session.
